Athlete Profile: Kevin Meador

By Dominic Francisco

Kevin Meador has been on the Berkeley High crew team since halfway into his sophomore year. Ever since then, he’s found a sport he loves. Despite an unfortunate loss at the regionals at Lake Natoma near Sacramento, Meador’s high school career is not marred. “This year I would say I learned a lot about the extent of the level of competition in the sport, as well as the importance of keeping up your motivation and intensity for the long run, because you can risk hitting the end of the learning curve,” he said. He credited his success to his coaches, saying “I would want to thank my coaches for giving me an opportunity and enough of their time and expertise to give me and the rest of the crew the chance to work as a team, and to get to experience some great results as well. And I might also tell them I really appreciated their dedication to the crew, including the newest coach Felix.” He plans to continue his career at Northeastern University, despite not being officially recruited.
