Robin Murray

Music, theater, and dancing. None are easy to perform, even on their own, but graduating senior Robin Murray likes to do them all. Nathan Forster, a friend of hers, says that she “sings, does musical theater, and loves to dance as well.” He describes her as a well-rounded person with a great personality. Murray has acted in the spring musical during every one of her four years at BHS, and is a valued cast member who will be sorely missed. She takes voice lessons with Scarlett Hepworth, and is also a classically trained singer.

Most days, Robin can be seen walking about the school toting her flute; she likes to be prepared for any moment the need for music may strike. In addition to singing, she is a talented flautist, and the section leader for the flutes of the BHS orchestra. With the orchestra, she will be traveling to Los Angeles to play at Disney Hall; they are leaving the day after graduation.

This year, Robin took the Advanced Dance class at BHS, which culminated in the Dance Projects show. For this show, students choreographed pieces, and Robin danced in many of them. As a multitalented person, she also sang in a chorus accompanying one of the pieces.

One of Robin’s interests that she has not explored in high school is horses. She says that she has been “in love with horses since I was six years old,” but for the last four years, she hasn’t been doing much riding. She plans on getting more into it in the next couple of years because she says, “I definitely adore them.”

As a Berkeley International High School student, she is part of the first graduating class from this school. Next fall, Murray will start her first year as a student at Solano Community College. As for what she plans to do in the future, Murray says that she definitely plans on being in musical theater “for the rest of my life.”

Forster, and anyone who has heard Murray sing, knows that “she’s an extremely musical person.” One of her most recent musical pursuits was arranging a piece called Pie Jesu for a trio with voice. Her sunny demeanor and great attitude make her a very enjoyable person to be with, and Forster adds that “she’s really sweet, and she’s really really great.” As a talented and overall amazing person, Robin Murray has contributed a lot to BHS and all of its performing arts programs.
