Marco Santos

Athlete, student, leader, lady’s man; Marco Santos epitomizes of all these roles. Although this reigning Prom King is occasionally mistaken for just a pretty face, Marco has proven that there is much more than what meets the eye.While at Berkeley High, Marco accomplished many things. He did consistently well in the classroom, earning an overall GPA of 3.6. He also served on BHS Leadership as a junior and this year, served as the senior class treasurer.

For most of his career at BHS, he lived by the motto, “long hair, don’t care,” and indeed, Marco had the most famous head of hair BHS has, and will ever see. He shocked the masses when he made the decision this year to buzz his luscious locks off, simply stating, “It was time.”

Since he could walk, his true passion has been baseball. He started out as the star of the freshman team, and by his sophomore year, he was the starting shortstop for the varsity squad. He brought a unique energy to the team, and was one of the primary leaders his junior and senior year. In the fall, he will be attending Seattle University, where he plans to go out for their newly founded Division I baseball team.

Academically, he plans to major in business. As his position as class treasurer may suggest, he has always been good with money, whether it be making it or saving it, so it’s logical that he would pursue a busines career. Down the road, he is specifically interested in entrepreneurial or international business.

Marco has an unparalleled work ethic. Early morning runs, late nights studying, and dozens of leadership meetings were all a consistent part of his high school life.

However, what is most impressive about Marco is his kindness and ability to care for others. His friendliness knows no restrictions, be it gender, race or socioeconomic background. His engaging personality allows him to befriend anyone. He possesses great loyalty to his close friends and is the type of person you can always depend on. It is almost impossible to make him feel awkward, which is a rare trait to maintain throughout high school. While many people were soul searching and attempting to find who they were these past four years, Marco was always contently, emphatically and napologetically himself. He has a great love for his family, who have always supported him. They are his motivation, and he is exceedingly grateful for all the love and encouragement they have given him.

Lastly, he is a perfect prom date.
